Hello, my wife and I are going down to PV in September and we are looking for a hotel to stay in. We are in our thirties and we want something nice where we can stay and have fun, but not some place where we might run into a bunch of 18 year olds there on a high school trip. We also don't want a place where there are dinner shows and retired people. We are confused because I am starting to believe there isn't a place down there with everything that I want. I enjoy getting a bit of local flavor and I know you sacrfice some of that when you stay at fancy places. Can anyone help me in my search for a comfortable, and nice place near downtown. Thank you and I hope that I am not too picky.

I can tell you one thing, i work for a student spring break company..you won't have highschool students there during the month of September :)

luckily for you september is brutally hot and humid - not many tourists at that time. however, tough to pick a spot to guarrantee no "kids" will be there, unless you go somewhere out of their price range. throw down $600US a night and go to the four seasons in punta mita and i can ALMOST guarrantee no party kids.

as for retired people, they are also looking for a place with no kids, so you will need to decide who you dislike more

I recommend the Goldilocks Hotel. It is not too near and not too far from downtown. The guests are not too old and not too young, it is neither too touristy nor too rustic, the food is not too spicy and not too bland....

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Villa Premier is an 'adults only' hotel, not far from downtown, highly recommended.

I liked the Molina de Agua......we had a private little "hut" to ourselves, the grounds are very pretty (on the river), and it is a short walk to everything. It did get a little loud one evening, but the noise was from elsewhere.

I think the Molina de Agua is history.

Check out the Hotel Buenaventura or Casa Claudia. They are next to each other.

The Buenaventura you can go all inclusive or not . The Casa Claudia is next door and is a small family owned place with small casita's with kitchenetts. We have stayed at both and loved them. The Claudia is smaller and more personal with a small pool that is surrounded by a lovely yard and landscaping.

The Villa Premier is the sister hotel to the Buenaventura and right next door and you can use the facilities there at no charge.
The Molino de Agua is now a building lot ...... more pinche condos :(

If you want "adults only" hotels, stay away from the all inclusive spots unless they advertise as "adults only", otherwise you'll have screaming kids from dawn to dusk - or at least during the pool open hours.

I think Villa Premiere is such a place (no kids). Usually, the higher priced spots have less families staying there. We're going there on the 22nd ;-)

Have a quiet holiday - bring earplugs.

Cheers!
