Just got to Oaxaca and am doing a 4 day mountain hike, however I'm looking for recommendations for good hikes in the south of Mexico as I make my way to Belize.
I'm going to San Cristobal de Chiapas next week but after that have no commitments.
I'm new to this so looking for ones done with guides/groups and my level of fitness is average to good, but definitely not amazing!
If anyone wants to join me let me know

You may find a guide in the Lacandon jungle of Chiapas (if you can get there safely), but I don't remember reading any trip reports Where are you hiking now, or will you provide a trip report later?

Since you will be going to Chiapas, i recommend this small Volcano that has a beautiful lake in the middle of its crater.

Wandering about some parts of Chiapas without a guide known to residents of those areas isn't an activity I recommend. Particularly so in the area between San Cristobal de las Casas and Palenque.

This website helps greatly on getting there. Like it says there also, speaking Spanish is a must because of the indigenous people there. There are cabins also you can stay at and they have guides in Chapultenango.

I stayed for several days in Comitan to do day trips/hikes to places within 1-3 hours colectivo transport. The waterfall of El Chiflon is amazing and it's a good hike -- something like 800 stairs. Lagos de Colon area was breathtaking. People recommended Las Nubes, but I didn't have time to go out there. These are all places to the southwest of the zone that many have reported increased risk of potentially dangerous situations. The state tourist office in Comitan (a couple blocks from the Zocalo) had wonderful maps of the state and recommendations for exploration. Good luck.
