is the word, TAKKIE a funny word? I use that sn on most of the forums that i go to... eh? =p
Anyhow, the bus to tenochtitlan - what is the earliest one that i can get to?
Thanks,
Tak

The bus is to Teotihuacan (not Tenochtitlan, which was the original city upon which Mexico City was built - Templo Mayor is about all you'll see of that). I would bet the earliest bus to Teotihuacan leaves by 7 am or so. First you'll have to take the Metro or a taxi up to the northern bus station (not terribly far).
You mention concierge service at your hotel. Pretty much all hotels will call a taxi for you. The problem is that the taxis called by hotels are often not the sitio taxis but private, unmarked tourist taxis. The are perfectly safe (they work in cahoots with the hotels themselves), but they will charge you probably twice what sitio taxis will (i.e., 3-4 times what street taxis will). In the end, it's not a lot of money to worry about for a short trip, but something to be aware of. The tourist taxis are probably more likely to speak English, but who knows. (Surprisingly few Mexicans speak English, considering how many have lived in the US and have family there.)
If your hotel is at the corner of Paseo de la Reforma and Alameda Park, it's about 6 blocks or so from the zocalo and cathedral, a 1-2 blocks from Bellas Artes (other end of Alameda), maybe 5 blocks from Plaza Garibaldi. No need to take a taxi as someone suggested, unless you have mobility problems or it's late at night.

hmmm, thats odd i could have sworn i responded already to your query about why i have been "LOL"ing about your name "TAKKIE" ;P
again as before-- i apologize-- and again as before-- i will explain to you why-- and that is because in my mind everytime i read your name i read it as the word TACKY is pronounced :P but again i'm sorry, not meaning to ridicule you by any means here...
and i hope you have a wonderful time in mexico city :D

i did for sure and found it. it was just on another thread that you asked me the same and i already responded, guess you didnt see it. ('mexico city sightseeing ideas' i believe is the title, lol)

Wow, you are quick..
if i choose a Sunday to visit National Anthropology - is that not a good idea? Should i leave it for Tuesday? (That will be my last full day in Mexico City)

Ok, got my initial plan. it is not fixed, and i am up for any changes that you guys can suggest! (Also depending on weather, i will swap them around once i get there)
Day1 (Saturaday)
- Arrive at 3PM - hopefully, no delay, will be able to get to the hotel by 430PM.
- check in to the hotel and freshen up immediately
- Go to Zocalo, visit Palacio National, Catedral Metropolitana, visit Templo Mayor finish all these sites by about 7:30PM
- Stroll around Centro area for shops, look at restaurants..etc..(Q: Is there still lots to see at this time?) OR walk to Zona Rosa area, and walk around shops, markets, and restaurants. (Q: Are the shops still open at zona rosa at about 7:30 or 8PM?)
- finish dinner, and take a sitio back to hotel (Q: Can you tell me how far is the walk from Zona Rosa to my hotel, my hotel is on Paseo De La Reforma, and cross street with Manuel Villa Longin, or Calle Atenas)
Day2 (Sunday)
- Walk (Q: Should I walk or take the train? How far is the walk?) to Bosque De Chapultepec to visit National Anthropology. Finish around noon.
- Have lunch near by (Q: Suggestion?)
- Visit the Castel, Castillo de Chapultepec. Finish around 4PM.
- Visit Frida's house near Chapultepec (hopfully around 5:30PM)
- Take sitio to La Condesa and get off at around Avenida Michoacan. Walk around the area, and walk to La Roma.
- Walk back to La Condesa for dinner (Q: Suggestions?)
- Take sitio back to hotel. Around 9PM
Day3 (Monday)
- take the earliest bus they have to visit Teotihuacan, and hopefully get there at around 10AM (Assuming earliest bus is 9AM). spend 3 hours on this location, and eat lunch near by (Q: Suggestions on restaurants?)
- Visit Basilica de Guadalupe (Q: How do you go there from Teotihuacan) and spend 2-3 hours at the site. Finish by 6pm.
- Get back to centro at around 7pm.
- walk from the North Terminal to (Q: where? Alameda Central?) and walk around shops, then eat dinner at this location.
- take sitio back to Hotel. Around 930PM
Day4 (Tuesday - last day)
- Take the Turibus at Zocalo at 9AM
- tour around with the bus and get off / on at locations, and go along with the route.
- Get to the nearest metro station to go to Xochimilco. (Q: Which one?)
- Take the gondolas (Q: What is the name for the boat and how much / long are the boat ride?) and loop around the Floating Garden (Q: Is that what they loop around?)
- Will I still have time to visit San Angels / Coyoacan? I would like to visit some historic sites...
- I know there is a place called Cuicuilco, which is in Tlalpan. But I cannot locate this on my map... (Any chance to visit this too?)
- Either I can stay in this area and have dinner, or I can go back to ZonaRosa / Centro for dinner (Take sitio back to the nearest Turibus stop, and use that as my transportation to my dinner place)
Day 5 - go back to NY.
Ok, here are my questions... (As well as my "Q:" above)
1. Is my plan do-able?
2. I am more interested in ancient ruins / historical sites rather than Art stuff... So did i miss any 'non-misiable' site?
3. Any of the site i am going is not worth going? If you think any of the sites i listed is not worth going - please let me know, i can take them out.
4. I did not include too much time for Alameda Central - i believe this is just a park - not much to do except sit and relax, right?)
5. I like walking, i dont mind walking, but if there are some places where i can save alot of time by taking a sitio, let me know... or vice versa
6. I chose Sunday to visit the National Anthropology, i know it might be crowded that day since it is free, but b/c They dont open on Monday, and I dont want to leave everything for Tuesday...)
7. Please, please give me suggestions on the restaurants on the places where I have marked "Q:". Moderate price is ok (I see that prices are pretty cheap, so may be 20 / person?)
8. Very important - hotels should have maps, right? Do I need to buy one from barnes and noble and bring it with me? Or I can get a decent map at the Airport?!
Enlighten me!!! I guess I wont have time for a bull fight, althought I really want to go, but information about that is kind of limited, i do not know where that is... And how do you go from Teotihuacan to Basilica de Guadalupe?
Thanks!!
