anyone been to most or all of these? how do they compare in terms of:
living costs
availability of cheap, small apartments for rent
climate-preference for not too hot, not too cold, mediterranean ideal
nightlife
size-preference for something around 200,000-500,000K population
crime
am I trying to find too much in one place? ;-)
thanks my friends for any good info

Xalapa & Teuacan would be my personal choices for livability & economy.GTO. for activities & culture...carracar
I would suggest you scratch Poza Rica off your list
Xalapa is great place.. with exception it has too much cool weather during winter months.. (for me)

The questions strikes me as a bit spastic. I suggest you start your research with a copy of the Lonely Planet Mexico guide so that you can narrow things down, followed by some surfing on the internet.

I agree with jonw on scratching Poza Rica off your list. And I agree that Xalapa is a great place. I even prefer some of those cooler months to the hotter summertime.
Buen viaje!

Hard to beat Xalapa, if it wasn't so hard to get to from the US I'm sure it would be overrun with gringos. Weather is nice as long as you don't need lots of sun. Prices of houses seem to have gone up a lot recently, but still decent, not sure about rentals. And don't worry about missing the US, they just opened a new mall that will give you all the taste of home you probably need...especially if you are dying for a Dairy Queen blizzard or a Carls Jr. burger.
