I'll be in Guadalajara next weekend for a few days followed by Puerto Vallarta for a few more. In Guadalajara I'd like to go to a soccer game and also take the tequila train. Anyone know what soccer games are going on Saturday and Sunday and in what stadium? How do I get info about the Tequila day trip? Also I'm looking for suggestions for places to stay - this is what I'm looking for: somewhere central and not too pricey. I want to walk around all day and check out the culture and eat good street food. Actually Hotel cost isn't that big of a deal but I always have more fun/ meet cool people in kind of ghetto hotels. Its gotta be close to some good bars and drinking establishments with lots of people watching. Live music is a big plus too - I looove mariachi!

In Vallarta I'd like to also do a lot of walking around in central locations with lots of people, music, street food and cerveza. Best beaches? Best bars/ clubs at night? and of course Hotel suggestions please. A little more concerned about hotel price in Vallarta but i'll be there midweek. Gay-friendly is fine but thats not what I'm looking for in particular. Thanks for your advice!!

In PV the south side of town would suit you, here's a list of Budget Hotels
You'd enjoy the Los Muertos beach area, lots of beach bars and restaurants, part of the beach - the blue chairs is a more gay area.

My favorite is Hotel Posada de Roger, rooms under $50USD/night. If you want to be right on the beach then The Tropicana is my suggestion.

According to the FMF official site there are no first division games in Guadalajara the 24th or 25th of March. Guadalajara have moved their game to Wednesday March 21 and Atlas and Tecos are visiting Pachuca and Querétaro respectively. There will be games at the lower levels.
