Driving a newer Diesel to Mexico ?

If you drive to Mexico in a newer Diesel this should be of interest to you!
It is for me!
The blog mentions Pemex, but on my drive south from Laredo I saw a BP, a Gasoline 270, an OXXO gas, a Shell and of course Pemex filling stations.

Should You Drive A Diesel Vehicle To Mexico?
As of September 27, 2018 there should be no worries about getting ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel) anywhere in Mexico. OK, i should qualify that - except out in the boondocks where the "gas station" is a front porch with a 55 gallon drum.

Pemex officially declared all their refineries have been upgraded to deliver ULSD. So, all you Deadheads and 60's folks will have to go somewhere else for your LSD.

But does all diesel sold in Mexico come from PEMEX refineries? I believe that Mexico imports a lot of fuel.

With all due respect, I do drive a Diesel and the last two years my driving in Mexico was severely curtailed because of the lack of ULSD.
Who the heck cares where the ULSD comes from?

Well, to repeat my original argument, if the fuel isn´t from PEMEX, it may not be low sulfur, right?

I think getting Pemex UBA diesel (ULSD) is still somewhat of a crap shot.

Here's a link to a 11/15/18 article saying the 1/1/19 deadline for UBA diesel will not be met.

Most of the new gasoline retailers are reselling Pemex products. ExxonMobil seems to be a safe place for UBA, as they have established their own supply-chain from their US refined ULSD.

Something like 50% of the diesel and 95% of premium gasoline in MX comes from the USA.
