Hi everyone.
I'm looking for a place to stay, hotel/hostel/airbnb in a setting next to nature where I can relax and do some nature/birdwatching. Any tips?
Jungle or coast.

Cheers

You are better able to do that in Guatemala than in Yucatan. See the on line magazine Yucatan Today for more infer about nature in the Yucatan. Just riding around you can often find large birds eating carrion off the roads.

Maybe Rio Lagartos, has lots of flamingos and other water birds like herons, egrets, a few pelicans, roseate spoonbills, etc. I did notice a few hotels when we visited six years ago but we were staying in Valladolid.

If you want to see a variety of birds, you need to get off the porch and visit a variety of habitats.

I can recommend an eco-tourism "ranch" just outside the town of El Cuyo and associated with the adjacent Ria Lagartos Biosphere Preserve. It's an amazing spot for birding. The cabins are very basic, however; no beds just hammocks. (PM me and I can pass you the phone number of the owner). You can also look into renting a cabin at the San Antonio Mulix cenotes.

Have you considered the Bacalar area? Lots of beautiful water and jungle birds, lots of hostels, and plenty of wonderful food. Easy to kayak around the lake, and best of all: quiet.

Thanks everyone.
Yes, some walking in the surroundings is what I like to do as well, watching birds, butterflies and plants. And kayaking too. Both Lagartos and Bacalar area sounds lovely. Any recommendations on places tp stay near Bacalar and Calakmul? In natural settings.
