Need some advice here.
Which is the best overland way to eanter Mexico. Is it San Diego - Tijuana or El Paso - Cuidad Juarez?
I have heard that Tijuana is a bit of a dump. Is this true? If I do that how easy is it to go to the Mexican mainland and not Baja California?
Thanks

It depends on where you are coming from and where you are going. If you want easy access to the mainland then I would recommend Cuidad Juarez. Both crossings are relatively hassle free, and you can find transportation from both that would take you to the mainland, but Cuidad Juarez is definetely closer in that respect.
All larger cities at crossing points have little to do with lies further into the interior.Your best transportation option on the US side shpild determine point of entery If you have littel agenda in NO. Mexico, FLY central valleys direct...carracar

Since 1993, upward of 340 young women have been brutally murdered in Juarez a Mexican border town.

Go to TJ if you are going to take a flight. Go to Juarez or better yet Laredo or Reynosa if you are taking a bus. If you are just heading to an airport or bus station the state of the city will not matter to you one bit. Personally though I think TJ is quite an underrated location. Not really what most people go to Mexico for, but it is far from a dump as cities go.

Thanks for you help. All advice well taken, looking at a map, my budget and what interests me I think I will do the El-Paso Tinjuana route.
