ADO bus Cancun to Playa Del Carmen

If you are talented enough to post a question on this site you probably could just as easily entered the ADO website and entered your departure location, destination and date and all would be answered........

Don t get upset as many posters have been answering the same questions for years after years. Check the websites and see what is available to take you south. IF NOTHING is available head to the Centro Cancun bus station and see when you can get the next bus to Playa out of that location. Buses run often out of theCentro station but arriving in Playa later at night may be a problem so may be a better idea to stay some where cheap near the bus station and go on in the am.

The last buses of the day to Playa depart from Cancun airport at 22:15, 23:00, 23:50 and 00:30. The next bus is at 08:30. Fare: 178 pesos. Trip time: 1 hour & 10 minutes.

If you land at 10:30 pm, I'd guess that you would be out of the airport by 11:30 pm, so you should be able to get the bus at 11:50 pm.

At Terminal 2, it usually takes me about 45 minutes to get through Immigration, luggage claim & Customs. Once at Terminal 3, it took only 20 minutes (ours was the only plane that had landed).

At T2, after exiting the building, turn right and walk all the way to the other end of the building. ADO buses park at the last set of parking bays, and a ticket seller stands where the bus parks. Other ADO kiosks are located after Customs and at the end of the terminal building where the bus parks.

At T3, just go out the door of the terminal and veer a bit to the right -- ADO buses park at parking bay on the right.

One other thing to be aware of -- ADO has 2 terminals at Playa. The bus might stop at the Alterna terminal on 20th Ave first (in my experience, sometimes it stops there, and sometimes it doesn't), but the bus will terminate at the Turistica terminal on 5th Ave. And the bus might make a stop at Puerto Morelos.

Note the Cancun airport station is listed as "Aeropuerto Cancun. Q. Roo" on the ADO website, versus "Cancun, Q. Roo" for their centro station. (The station at Tuxtla Gutierrez' airport is more confusing.)
