Where to get news about Moron - town near Cayo CocoCountry forums / Cuba / Cuba
20 years ago I spent time at the house of a family living in Moron, near Cayo Coco. I no longer have their phone number or mailing address, though I could find their house. I suspect their area was hit hard by Irma and would like to help them out with a cash donation. I am considering visiting Moron (will stay at a hotel or casa as I will be arriving unannounced) as part of a month long trip to Cuba.
There are several Facebook pages with postings from Morón such as https://www.facebook.com/MoronCuba.ComunidadVirtual/ I have in-laws in Morón - one wrote two days ago:

Good luck. There never was much in Moron, now there is less. Go to the south shore, like Cienfuegos. It is a nice place. | 2
I like Morón - the Laguna de Leche was one of my favourite places. And there was the sugar museum and steam railway and crocodile farm. | 3
About a week ago I read an article in Spanish from, I think, the Havana Times (but might have been some other publication) that listed damage done to places all over the island, including numerous communities along the north coast. I'm sorry I can't locate that article now to provide a link, but as I recall, Moron suffered a lot of damage (as indicated in the letter excerpt quoted by Poster #1. ) | 4
