Diving Habana

Have been reading the threads but have not found much on the quality of diving out of Habana. As am going with non-diving friends only for a week, we plan on staying in Habana and will not go to any resorts. So... are there any decent dive sites easily accessed from the city? I've looked at the websites for dive centres, but am not 100% convinced. My alternative is to hit Belize or Playa del Carmen instead as I live in Mexico and it's easier to access if it's going to be a better dive for the buck, but I also would like to experience Cuba. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Answer regarding diving at or near Havana = no, definately not worth it. You'll be money ahead to do Belize or PdC.

There are some good dive sites between Megano and Jibacoa (around 20 mins East of Havana) - a little tricky to organise admittedly.

Alternatively Playa Giron is not so far (3 hours drive),

Cozumel is a great dive place as is Belize so depends what you want.
