Christmas-New Year's Travel SOLO

Hi I'd like to travel to Cuba this Christmas 2016- New Year's Eve as a single active woman over 60. Ideally, I'd like to FIRST-SNORKEL & Learn Some Spanish at the same time. I want to go to a place easily accessible for snorkeling. I'd appreciate suggestions

Do you know which Cuban airport you will be flying into...or prefer to fly into?
Do you think that you would stay in a resort or travel a more independent mode?

So many places to snorkel and learn Spanish in Cuba.

Thx so much for your fast reply. I'd like to fly into Havana & travel to snorkel not too far from there. I appreciate the list of snorkeling places. I'd appreciate suggestions on which are best close to Havana. Also if you have suggestions on how, where to get some Spanish lessons:)

Hi Lexus25. I'm a 63 year old woman, a U.S. citizen and will be traveling Cuba solo for 2 weeks in February. I'll post a trip report when I get back. Any other over 60 yr old women out there who've traveled Cuba solo? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm landing in Havana and have booked 2 nights at a casa. That's it for planning ahead. I will be traveling light (with my snorkel and mask included of course). I speak very little spanish but have a good translator app on my phone.

Make sure your translator ap is one that works without an internet connection. Many do not. We tend to initially assume that many things in Cuba work as they do at home. Then Cuban reality strikes.
