I'll be in Santiago de Cuba for a conference in mid-May and have missed booking my return flight to Havana in time to meet up with an organized tour. Unfortunately, It seems like I will have a long journey by land to get to Havana in time for the tour! What would you all recommend for an alternative way to get from Santiago to Havana? Are there any other flight options, for instance from a nearby airport, or can you suggest taking the bus, train, or renting a car for this journey? I really…

Hi everyone,

I will be travelling to the USA next month from the UK and I was hoping to go to Cuba as a tourist whilst I am there.

The plan was:

To go from the UK to New York (3 days in NY) to Cuba and back to New York for another 2 days.

Is this possible with all the current restrictions?

Thanks.

Hey there,
Just got back from an amazing two weeks in Cuba with my family.
What a country!
We really connected with the family that hosted us for a week in Trinidad and they were hoping to get WiFi in their home to help promote their BnB but said it was too expensive.
My question is whether there was a modem and router I could send them from Canada that would work.
Anyone have any ideas?
E

An old map of Cuba is up for auction in Boston -- but it's much more than a map.

It's a historic artifact from some of the darkest days of the Cold War, when Washington and Moscow reached a standoff that could have led to a nuclear doomsday.
President John F. Kennedy consulted the map -- which shows dozens of potential military targets across Cuba -- as he was considering whether to launch a US attack during the Cuban missile crisis.

Hey,
we'll be landing in Varadero in a week and are looking into cheap/local options of getting to Jibacoa. We were counting on the Hershey electric train but some recent posts say that it is still not operating after the Hurricane Irma. Could anyone confirm that or give an update on the situation? Alternatively, we're also thinking of potentially catching a local bus from Matanzas. Could that be in option and what bus would that be?

And as we're speaking of Jibacoa - any of you stayed at the…

Hi everyone. I'm trying to secure lodging in isla juventud and it seems like casa particular La Isla Is full. They're suggesting I stay at Casa Zayana. Does anyone have any feedback on this place or any general advice?

In case you're wondering why I didn't go with Hotel Colony, I'm not looking to scuba (but would like to snorkel if the opportunity arises)

CUBA

My husband and I are beach junkies and have traveled to countless islands in the Caribbean. We do resorts a lot, but after we’ve gone to a country once and stayed at a prison (resort), we usually find our own accommodations and do an “off the beaten path” type trip. While discussing where to go for our next trip CUBA came up. I figured too hard. Too expensive. Blah blah. There’s a LOT of information online, and some of its old. Some of its from 2016. And ALL of its confusing.

I figured we could…

Hello!
In May I want to go to Cuba. I will be flying from Miami with a transfer in Panama with COPA airlines. Now my question is where do I have to buy my visacard? Do I buy it already at the Miami airport or am I able to buy it in Panama? Note that I have a EU passport :) and that I won't be flying back to the U.S. Been searching the web for info about it, but it is all really unclear to be honest haha... And obviously I want to dodge the more expensive pink american visacard and the hassle…

In doubt! Book tickets to Cuba in July or not...

We are used to travelling on a budget but this time there is a 1-year old with us and my parents (not travellers)... Usually we do not plan more than a few days ahead. But this time I feel the urge to have it al figured out before we go, or best no before we even book. So I am looking for some reinsurance if it is a good choice or not.

I would love to go, I've never been to Cuba, speak a nice bit of Spanish and we love to dive and snorkel. (and…
