This has to be the best piece of study i have ever read. I'm only half way through but it describes the reality of yuma/cubano interactions perfectly. I believe it was a master's thesis.
Hi all,
I am going to Cuba early May, arriving in La Habana on the 3rd (evening) and departing from Holguin on the 15th (mid afternoon). As I have to go catch my flight at Holguin airport I thought it would be nice to spend some days in Santiago de Cuba before heading to Holguin on the 14th. My plan is therefore to fly from Havana to Santiago de Cuba. I was wondering if it was best to buy my ticket in advance (now) or when I arrive in Havana, and if the second option is the best, where would you…
A couple of months ago, I took my first ferry ride to Regla, the other side of Havana harbor. I have been on the fringes of Casablanca before when we took the tunnel to the old fort.
"Despite its being so close to Old Havana, few visitors enjoy a trip to Casablanca, or know its unique history, which goes back to the earliest colonial period."
Here is an interesting article about Casablanca, the Hershey train, an old bridge proposal and a possible new cruise-ship docking site proposal.
The…
“For me, smoking cigars is above all a pleasure.......and I’m interested in women having the opportunity of enjoying that pleasure........"
Yay, Chics and Cohibas!
I am travelling to Cuba from Australia via a stop over in Mexico and was wondering if it is easy to convert Mexican Pesos to CUC on arrival in Cuba. I am trying to avoid double exchanging Mexican Pesos to Euros or similar to buy CUC
Thanks
I read in Cuba forum that drones are not allowed in Cuba. I understand and I do not want to get myself into trouble by using drones in Cuba, but I am heading elsewhere after Cuba and I wonder I can just put it in luggage and not use it.
Anyone travelling from Havana to Trinidad on April 25, 2018 who would like to share a private taxi?
Price is 160 CUC = 160€ between 4 people that would be 40€ per person.

---Not too long ago researching "bringing a bike to Cuba?" A friend of mine gave me a real nice Schwinn bicycle (21 speed with dual suspension with "flatless" tires---solid rubber no air.) All I had to do was get it there (in one piece). Another friend of mine (a professional bike rider) agreed to let me borrow his $500 bike case . . . all I had to do was have a mechanic take the bike apart to fit in the case. I bought my tickets from Southwest Air . . . even thought they have flights to…
Cuba, once bustling with heavy-spending Americans, sees steep decline in U.S. travelers
U.S. cruise ships still call on Cuban ports and U.S. airlines, such as American and Southwest, still list Havana and Camaguey as destinations.
But Cuba – not long ago bustling with good-tipping, heavy-spending Americans – is experiencing a steep decline in U.S. travelers.
Reasons vary, including new restrictions on travel imposed by President Trump and Hurricane Irma's brush with the island last year. But…
I spent roughly three weeks in Cuba and I don't think I would have got half as much out of it if it wasn't for doing an escorted tour for the first half - with additional free time added on at the end which we spent in Varadero. I have blogged extensively about each element of the trip. Virgin Holidays "Cuban Experience" tour was the one we went with in late January this year - it's probably not ideal if you're trying to travel on a small budget, but given how unique and vast Cuba is, it seemed…
