In a separate thread, I've had a polite disagreement with a colleague regarding Cuban musicians. I contend that Cuba, with only 11 million population, has the best musicians per capita in the world. I'd be interested to hear opinions from the gang. Thanks!

Hey all
Going to a resort in Varadero for a friends wedding in THREE DAYS!!! And just wondering about a few last minute things:
1. Has anyone had troubles bringing an ipod to cuba? I also have the iTrip (sends the music to a set radio station).... is this asking for trouble? I needs my music!
2. I'm sure our contact with the real Cuba will be minimal. So how do I get two kids baseball gloves/balls to kids that would appreciate them? Is it wise to give them to a resort worker to pass on?
3. We're…

Hi folks. ETA is early August and I'm wondering whether or not anyone has any thoughts regarding what it would be like to get around Havana in a wheelchair. I'm strong as an ox as a result of pushing around Sydney for the last 18 years and routinely haul myself up flights of stairs in order to ply my trade as a musician. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

dengue is apparently largely under control now in HAV; at least authorities have stopped the large scale spraying. the population also seems to be relaxed in this respect.

just back - here some impressions:

forget about geeting a dvd player in - each suitcase is x-rayed (as is your hand luggage); that's why it takes an eternity for the baggage to arrive on the carousel. i noticed there is always some chief (wears a a name tag, but civilian clothes) prowling the baggage claim area, helping people with obvious excess luggage weight get thru customs; his fee is about CUC 50,-; if you have to pay for 20 extra kg at CUC 10,- each, that's ok. this guy told me that…

I'm nervous about arriving in Cuba with a lot of cash so wonder whether my Mexican Mastercard would be accepted there, also whether I would pay less tax than on US dollars or whether the pesos will go through dollars and so on. Thanks to everyone who told me my US credit card wouldn't work.

Hi,

I will go to Cuba in a week.

1. I am trying to find information about places/prices to rent a motorcicle in Havana. Could anybody help me out. Any other piece on info regarding motorcycles in Cuba would be appreciated (except things like: don't do it, it's dangerous, you're gonna get ripped).

2. What is the policy regarding taking photographs. I have quite a good one and a few lenses. I'm going semiprofi. So most of the times it's quite obvious when I'm taking photos. Am I allowed to bring in…
