This may be a stupido question considering the current hurricane, but has anybody been able to call/texto Cuba today? I don't get any ring sound and have not received a text for some time. Santiago y Havana is where I am trying to call to. From what I have gathered neither has been hit too too hard. I haven't tried a land-line yet just movil.
With the recent Hurricane Irma, that has passed through Cuba, I am sure most are not too concerned with what to see on an upcoming trip....for now.... but here is September's issue.....
Welcome to the September Traditional Cuba issue of La Habana Magazine.
In this month’s issue you will find a selection of articles about traditions in Cuba, from religiosity, to that ultimate piece of clothing that goes by the name of “guayabera” to a drink made out of sugar cane spirits that traces its origins…
HI, has anyone here wild camped in Cuba? I really want to wild camp in Cuba, I'm on an extremely tight budget and can't really afford to stay in casa for more than a few nights a month. I speak some Spanish, so I have no trouble getting around and buying food with the local currency.
Anyways, I read that there are boas in Cuba and they can grow like 13 feet long; will something like this try to kill me at night if I just try to pitch a tent 15 metres from the road in a forest? some nights I may…
We are planning a month, this time, for a trip in Nov/Dec. We have, previously, only toured Habana and the western end of the island. This trip, we are planning a week on the beach and then a week each in three cities in the central and Eastern parts of the the island.
We like good music, interesting architecture, and long walks through interesting neighborhoods.
Any recommendations for your favorite three cities/towns, in the central and eastern regions...and a description of what you like…
Has the purchase of Cuban SIMs by tourists been legalized yet, or is it still blackmarket purchase? If not, what are the ins and outs of purchasing them on the BM? Any good contacts. We are going for a month in Nov/Dec this time. Many Thanks!
Hi all
First: I have already checked the FAQ #19 but the information there looks like it could be outdated since Trump. I apologize if I'm spamming the forum but I am really hoping to get an answer to this.
I am a Danish citizen currently staying in the US on a J-1 exchange student visa for half a year and I have a vacation booked to Cuba with my long-distance girlfriend in late October. My initial plan was to fly to Mexico City and then to Havana with AeroMexico and then fly back directly…
Hi all
No idea if this sort of question has bene answered before so apologies if I'm clogging up the forum.
My girlfriend and I (from London) have a wedding in the USA planned but decided to tie it in with a trip to Cuba. We booked our flight from the UK to Havana but didn't realise the USA had tightened restrictions on tourists flying from Cuba to the USA and vice versa.
Is it possible to fly from the UK to Cuba on a tourist visa, then fly to Mexico for a few days and then fly to New York…
I saw there is another post on the Hurricane, but I thought I shouldn't jump into their post.
I'm due to land in Havana 10.30pm Sunday night, a matter of hours after Irma is due to pass over. Does anyone have experience on what this might mean? Will the airport be open again, or when would I expect flight to start again? Will Havana (and other places in Cuba) be accessible? Likewise what can/should I expect from travel insurance and airline? I only have 6 nights in Cuba so at what point should…
My Cuban born (US naturalized citizen) wife and I (US born citizen) have traveled to Cuban most every year for the past 20 years depending on the changing travel restrictions in place concerning visits to relatives. Elsa's parents have both passed away so her nearest relation is her sister. As I read the current rules She and I can legally go to Cuba to visit. My question is, can my son from a previous marriage and his wife and their 1 year old child legally travel to Cuba? He has travelled with…
