There really isn't a lot of information in the article, so I put it down to brujeria. Heehee!
I once upset a babalao many years ago and when I went back to my hotel room (Melia Cohiba) later that day, it started to freak me out. My friend and I were convinced something was in there with us. There was a big storm and the power went and we couldn't stay in there without the lights on, and for hours and hours, we haunted the central areas of the hotel that the generator was supplying power to. :-D
The sound disturbances sound a bit like symptoms of sleep paralysis attacks I have.
