Hi
I hope someone can help me. I am travelling to Cuba this summer, which is going to be SO cool. I have some questions which I hope someone can help me with :-)
Firstly, I have only booked accomodation for the first nights in Havana, but I am a bit in doubt if I need to book for the whole trip due to the high season and hence many tourists? I would like to live in casas particulares and not hotels.
I am going to Havana and would very much like to see the show at Tropicana Nightclub. However, I have heard that it is a good idea to book tickets before you go. Can anyone tell me the webaddress or e-mail on where I can book these tickets? I have tried to google the information but unfortunately without any luck.
Furthermore I am going to rent a car, can anyone tell me which are good places to rent cars in Havana? I hope that I can leave the car in Santiago de Cuba. Is it best to book the car before you go or?
During my stay I would like to stay in casas particulares. Does anyone have any good suggestions to nice places in: Vïnales, Matanzas, Cienfuegos and Santiago?
Finally, I am thinking of visiting Varadero (though very touristic), is it necessary to book beforehand, or can you just show up for a room in these resorts/hotels?
Thanks many times for your replies
Cheers,
HP :-)

hey
Dont worry about finding a place in havana you will always find a casa particular with vacancies
The Tropicana - you dont need to book tickets before you get to Cuba, you could buy tickets at most major hotels its not problem, theres no need to buy tickets before you get to Cuba
It is probably a good idea to book a hotel in Varadero before you arrive there (but not essential) again you could book a hotel once you arrive in Havana (again you can do this in Havana- try Hotel Inglaterra), but if you prefer you could try booking through a web site such as www.gocubaplus.com

enjoy

Hi HP, first of all you need to write in your tourist card the address of a legal casa or hotel for the first 3 days though you can move out anytime if it doesn’t meet up with your expectation as long as you haven’t paid up front. Cuba is unique that they trust us to pay when we leave so never pay up front for services not rendered. Summer is high season but most of the tourists are staying in all-inclusive hotels and resorts and there are lots of private casa or the owner will find you a place. If you are traveling solo I suggest you use the tourist bus rather than rent a car. A holiday should be stress free and with a car you are always worried about finding a gas station with gas or flat tires or directions out of Havana. Believe me it is more of a pain than waiting for the bus. The Tropicana Nightclub is ok and was a great place to meet tall legged girls in the early 90s but over price and out of the way for me. Compatible shows can be found in Cabaret Parisién in Hotel Nacional or Salón Rojo in Hotel Capri and Cabaret Copa in Hotel Rivera. I been to the show in the Nacional twice and enjoyed it very much and a short walk from my casa in Havana. For a casa particular in Cienfuegos check out Casa de Jose here
Cuba is an once in a life time experience and sooo Cool so have a great time.

Hey,
I got back from Cuba about 3 weeks ago. A very good casa I can recommend in Santiago is:
Sra. Eulogia (Yoyi)
Corona 54
e/ San Ricardo y Santa Isabel
Santiago de Cuba
eulogia@fie.uo.edu.cu
Yoyi is such a sweet person and she speaks English very well. It's about 10 mins. walk from parque Cespedes. Food is great.
I also went to Havana (got robbed there, so beware! sad thing to say, but don't trust anyone walking up on you, how nice they might seem...), Santa Clara, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Camaguey. If you want more casa addresses, please let me know. I booked everything in advance and that worked very well. No hassle.
Enjoy it!
