What is the procedure for getting the tourist travel card for Cuba if I'm travelling there independantly (UK citizen)? How much is it and how long would it take?

I had a look at the Cuban embassy site but the only info I could find was that you get it through your travel agent..

Thank you very much for any information

my experience is that the airline that takes you into Havana will give you the tourist card...are you flying direct from the UK? If so, ask your airline. I hope this is helpful....

UK is one of those places that the Tourist Card is not issued by the airlines, have a read of post #2 in the FAQ.

Hi, having done this many times, there are 3 ways. Firstly, go online to the Cuban Consulate website (which is very bad) and download the application form, then send off the payment etc. Secondly, some airlines do provide the tourist card, but not all, you need to check with the airline. Lastly, if you arrive in Cuba without a tourist card, the immigration service can issue one. However, this is a laborious task, and I would not recommend it!

Poster #1 is from Canada, and the airlines flying from Canada are more attune to taking tourists to Cuba, so listen to #3. Another consideration is that "some" airlines will not allow you to board your flight without a Tourist Card, so be sure to follow #3's advice.

This is by far the best method I have found; A web site www.visacuba.co.uk - I have used this before and it arrived to me the next day, they do however charge a few extra pounds for the service, but its quick, easy and its all processed over their web site, its efficient

This question gets asked alot but I don't remember anyone linking the visa cuba uk website posted by #6. It's more involved than simply buying it directly from the airline, but it looks like the simplest and quickest way to do it.

Waiting till one gets to Cuba to buy it---may not always be an option and could prove costly. In what is an ultimate Catch 22, some airlines will not allow a passenger to board without the tourist card, yet do not sell or provide it either.

Hello. I'm in the UK and it was very simple to send off in the post for your tourist card. Simply download the application form off the slightly poor looking Cuban Consulate website, fill in the details and include a postal order. I was mighty surprise that they turned it around in less than five days - having thinking I might need something like a month! Don't forget to send it recorded delivery for peace of mind.

Will be off on Sunday - ya!
