My flight to Havana includes 3 nights at the Comodoro hotel in Querejeta. I presume the hotel will have regular transport into Havana in the daytime but If I am travelling back alone at night from central or old Havana how much approximately will a taxi cost and how long is the drive? I am wondering if it it would be better to find accommodation nearer town but that means paying extra.
Thanks

I recommend that you stay in Old Havana. I stayed in the Montehabana Aparthotel in Miramar and it cost me 10-15CUC for a taxi into Old Havana. I spent a small fortune on taxis during my 7 day visit.

The Comodoro Hotel is great and so is the surrounding area. I thought it was located in the district of Miramar but you say Querejeta? Anyhow, the Comodoro that I know is first rate. They have a bus going downtown several times a day. A taxi back from Centro or Vieilla Habana should not be more than $20. CUC pre-bargained with the driver. However, from my experience, it is better to ensure that his taxi has a metre and that he use it. Usually much cheaper although the drivers prefer no metre. The drive from Hotel Nacional at night should last about 25 minutes or so.

Thank you both for the information. It seems I could stay the night in old Havana for the same price as a taxi back to the hotel.

$20 to Miramar - ripoff

Get the white lada panataxi and it should be no more than $10.

Agree with #4 - while the white Panataxis will ask $20 or 15, tell them you will pay $10 and they will say ok. If the first Panataxi you come to says no, keep going up the line until you find one that says yes - I have never paid more than $10 to Miramar.
