Spirit no longer lists Cuba as a served destination. When I tried to ring them the waiting time is much too long.
Did they stop the service?
Anyone find a cheaper airline than Jet Blue and American from FLL to HAV? These two seem
to offer almost identical fares. I prefer Jet Blue, with their $50 travel document and generous
refunds on missed flights.
Is there any airline that flies directly from Cuba to San Juan Puerto Rico? Jet Blue flies to Florida before
flying to San Juan.
Trap

Trap: American Airlines does not fly from FLL but only from MIA. You know the difference.
Note that jetBlue flys Orlando direct to HAV for basically the same price as FLL to HAV if that is an option for you. You can buy a round trip ticket currently for just under $200 going to HAV.
I try to always fly jetBlue when possible as their customer service in the US is pretty good while American Airlines customer service in the US is almost always horrible. Both jetBlue and AA seem to have great customer service in Cuba as a result of them being a bit independent and a step removed from the controlling "suits" in their respective corporate offices.
When going to Holguin, my choice is flying AA from Orlando (my home), then changing planes in MIA or driving 3+ hours to FLL to fly direct. That is like deciding between being stabbed in the eye with a sharp stick or being bitten by a rattlesnake.

BM: Yes, I agree that Jet Blue is the darling amongst the others.
Keep the info flowing and address the question of whether Spirit cut off their flights, and also
the question of direct flights from HAV to San Juan.

AA. Jetblue and Delta applied to take up the vacated slots - I don't know if they have been awarded yet.
Don't Southwest fly from FLL ?
I haven't heard of any flights from Puerto Rico - perhaps via the Dominican Republic ?

Spirit is out. Southwest has flights from FLL. Southwest also includes baggage fees both directions. Also SW will only book nonstop flights to Cuba.
AA is baggage fees one way, you don't pay on the return from Cuba. Jet Blue charges both directions.
They all seem to be similar in price when you add up fees.
Don't know what cheap is but thy are a lot cheaper than before.
Southwest had tickets in $192.56 round trip with baggage included. How much cheaper would you like?

$192 is good. I paid $194 RT with Jet Blue this coming October, with only carry on. If I had a check in SW would have been better.
