Hi there!

I want to travel from Vinales to Trinidad on Sunday May 21st, but the busses (Viazul) are already full. Anyone here with the same problem (or just a wish to go by car) that wants to share a cab :-)? I found this taxi company on the internet and prices are around 170 USD and it takes you about 6 hours according to them.

Any other solutions for this trip are also welcome!

Cheers,
Pauline

Viazul do not sell all their tickets online. The buses are probably not full.

To book online you will pay top end prices. You may well find cheaper in Cuba.
And I really doubt they can do that distance in 6 hours.

You will find taxis for hire at bus stations everywhere in Cuba. Ask several drivers a for a price, cost varies.

Remember Varadero and All-Inclusive resorts are also a great places to meet other first time foreign tourists.

Hi BobMichaels,

Super helpfull! Thanks very much! Based in all the comments I indeed decided to arrange transportation in Cuba itself :-) multiple options and much cheaper.

You will find that once you have your feet standing on Cuban dirt that actual travel is much simpler than trying to plan for it on the internet. You will find that you have many options as most Cubans cannot afford Viazul tickets or their own private taxi yet travel from one place to another. And they do so spontaneously.

Ditto above.

Rest assured that as two of the most popular tourist destinations at the west end of the island that there's a steady stream of shared taxis on the Vinales/Trinidad route.

Ask around when you arrive in Vinales - and see who your casa owner suggests too - and you'll have no problems scoring a ride.

Have fun.

Cheers,
Terry

Great! Normally, I always arrange things in the country itself. However (also a first time Cuba traveller) told me i had to arrange it upfront as everything online got full really quick. Not such a great reference than ;-) thanks!
