After 2000, it was only 1, usually. After 2002, it was only 1..... don't tell my wife....;-)

In case you ever wanted to know what Cuba does with the optional data fields (for the xreference to national files) on the second line of your machine readable travel document, that's how Fido and his pals track your immigration history. It's all nicely xreferenced to the photograph they take of you each time you enter as well.

Your answer should NOT include a stupid response like having a GF / BF, as this may prompt additional questions that you may NOT wish to furnish answers to. A sample additional question they might ask a responder volunteering a BF / GF answer might be: Did you apply for an A2 visa? You could then be trapped by whatever response you provided.

It has always worked for me.

What I always found curious was the question "Is this your first time in Cuba." I say curious because I was unsure about the purpose of the question. But I don't recall ever being asked a followup question after the answer.

Alta,
They obviously know exactly frequency and timing of anyone's visits. My guess is they ask the question to detect any attempt to hide something on the part of the visitor. If he's lying when answering, they might decide to give him a closer look.
