I did a post a few months ago after attending what I consider the best concert I have ever seen live, on TV or heard of, namely Manu Chao in La Habana singing for free in front of the US Interests Section on the Malecon with well over 100.000 Cubans raving for 3 hours.
I have been informed by an unofficial but reliable source close to Manu that Habana will be one the first stops in Manu's new tour, starting shortly before the launchig of his new Album in September 2007. There is no concrete date yet, but there will be one very soon and I'll post it as soon as I get it. I was told end of September to mid-October will be a good time to be around Havana and even Santiago is a candidate for this year (last year he only had Havana on his route, which was followed by Caracas and La Paz is I recall correctly).
Unfortunately I have some no videos of the first Habana concert, but I can assure you it was as good as any other Manu concert (try min 5:20 if eight minutes of rock is too much for you).
To the (many) Canadians on this forum and for cuba junkies (DraJ?) some of whom may not be familiar with Manu's work, philosophy or lyrics, I can tell themthey are DAMN LUCKY to have the man touring their country later this month and get a taste of it. The rest of us can listen to the latest single on the same website: as usual it is thought provoking and highly political (making references to Fallujah, Jerusalem, Congo and Monrovia among others) and the sound is different than previous albums, it reminds me a bit of James' "getting away with it".

I am already changing my return flight from Havana to make sure I'll leave only after Manu's concert...
