Though I have checked the FAQ's, I have been unable to ascertain the legal drinking age in Cuba. I will be travelling there next week with my 17 year old daughter, and would like to take in some evening events with her, as I am a musician and have heard that the bands are wonderful. Could anyone tell me if taking her to a jazz club or show such as the Tropicana would be permitted? Thanks!

officially its 16- some clubs/bars stipulate this, but it means nothing as nobody really cares- so dont worry about it

No problem getting into any club. But whats the drinking age where your from?......stick to that. Do not encourage that in a bright mind.......there are to many here that can attest to that.

You will have much, much more to worry about in Cuba than her legal consumption of alcohol. Unless she's a serious "two bagger", she is two years past her prime compared to her Cuban contemporaries.

Good luck!

And just who the hell asked you to venture that opinion? OP asked a serious question to which he has received several serious responses, including mine. Light hearted wording of these might not be a bad idea, considering the delicate point we are trying to make. None of us knows but this could be a first trip to Cuba for either or both.

Are you running for the presently vacant position of hallway monitor? Pal, YOU have an attitude proplem which comes across clearly in every word you post here.

Bev, as you're a musician, be sure to bring your axe, as you will, in most cases, be welcomes to sit in. Caveat emptor ... if you are any good, it may be difficult for you to leave the stage! Email me directly if you want some serious contacts in Havana.

Forget about the Cubans, you might have to watchout for the tourists.

I've seen #8 play and sing and you know, he ain't half bad :)) Cuban musicians are very gracious and will allow you to sit in and jam with them as long as you know your stuff.
