.............................. All the Cuban girls I've been with during the last 24 years give this as the reason that we should walk separately (you; on the right side of the street; me on the left)..................

New visitors should not assume this is universally true. It depends on the age difference, difference in skin tone, how the chica is dressed, how she carries herself, and her relationship / history with the local police. I have never been with a Cuban female that had any concerns about us waling together pass a policeman.

Independently verify anything important that a stranger tells you on the internet, even this advice.

Yup. Now, I haven't been with a chica since 2000. Married that one in 2003. Maybe I am out of touch but in 2000, Havana saw the biggest crackdown of girls in it's history. My gf, now wife, did walk behind me the first week we spent time together but i quickly put an end to that. Hands in hand, arm in arm. I explained to her why she should ignore the cops. We went out every day and every evening. Never were we stopped. Not once. Including walking past a truck being loaded with girls, by the cops, on La Rampa one evening. I was spending 4-5 months in Cuba per year so, my experience was not a fluke. This included day trips to varadero... Etc.

She was asked for her carnet twice. By this time she had a lot of confidence. Both times were when I was stopped for some driving infraction. Both times, she protested and refused. Both times, the cop backed down.

These days I doubt the cops are as vigilant, so I find it hard to believe when a girl doesn't want to be seen with a foreigner in public. She must be hard core with a police record.

And if someone thinks we both look like foreigners. I'm White and she is Black. I am also 16 years older than her.

" I have never been with a Cuban female that had any concerns about us walKing together pass a policeman."

Ditto.

And specifically in terms of my wife from 12 years ago until now with regular 2-3 month trips travelling all over Cuba we have never once been stopped by cops. But my wife is not black doesn't dress like a jinetera and has no history with police.

The shortest flight takes half a day door to door
Cuban resorts are God's Waiting Rooms
Any trip of less than a month is not worth getting out of bed for
Anybody relying on a single source of funds whilst travelling is an idiot
*Millions of Americans have visited Cuba already, but everyone arriving this week is under the illusion that he or she is the first one to discover Cuba and the last one to see it before it is no longer an independent country*

It is important to understand that Cuban police are trained not to harass foreign tourists. The communists consider harassing tourists to be bad for the tourism industry, Cuba's largest. Harassing jinateras, not accompanying a tourist, is an important part of police work.

It is difficult for gingos and/or yumas to understand. Cuidate, es Cuba.

I agree that these days there is less risk for the Cubana being seen in the presence of the extranjero on the streets. In the 1990s and early 2000s there was more of a risk. My attitude in those times was better safe than sorry, and also I'm not one who digs walking hand in hand
down the street with any chica, especially during these days one 45-50 years younger than me. (not as obscene as it might seem; I don't look my age)
Unfortunately the sweeping hand of censorship washed over part my #28 suggestion of an enjoyable indoor activity that might have been of value to SDET. I'll try a PM.

for her this is strickly business...SDET I assume you can see this right??? Musicians...give me a break...this thread is honestly very sad but funny at the same time. And all the while both the men and women that see this going on just laugh at the "pathetic" yuma. Cash SDET...that is all she wants.

I get that. I'm just impressed at how well she does her "job". However, anything that I can do within reason to make her "job" more enjoyable is what I have in mind. I asked her what she wanted to do with her life and her reply was to be a mistress. She absolutely doesn't want to be a "jinetera" and isn't interested in being treated as disposable. Her minimum "arrangement" is for a week. I'm just trying to keep my part of the deal: "Sin respeto no hay nada".

i think SDET is getting his fun in a very curious way...on a public forum talking about things that sadly are exciting to him.

Can anyone describe what a jinatera looks like, I can't tell since it seems like most Cubanas dress for the weather.

My friend Larry and me like the outdoor rain but once when it was raining, we shacked up in our room indoors with a couple of ladies from the province of Quebec and we all played cards and sang.

This might not count as a good suggestion though because it was on a resort.

If it doesn't need fixed try not to break it.
