I have a week off from October 9 to 15, and I'm thinking about heading to Cuba for a few days. I would base myself in Havana, with perhaps a day trip (or two), but I mostly prefer to relax and soak up the atmosphere in the capital. After Irma, though, I'm wondering if I should postpone until February? I've perused this forum for updated information about the current situation, and a lot of people are saying, "Havana should be fine in October," but how fine? Will there likely be reliable power? Rubble in the streets? Anyone have any idea? Many thanks in advance for any input!

but how fine?

Given the Cuban's experience with Hurricane clean-up and post-restoration, one would think that Havana will be business as usual in October, but this question may not be answerable by anyone on this forum regarding specifics. I am sure that if you or a travel agent are able to book a trip for October, then all should be considered fine regarding essentials such as power. it also may depend on which area in Havana.

Will there likely be reliable power?

There is not always reliable power in Havana even at the best of times.

Rubble in the streets?

In some places. http://www.havanatimes.org/?p=127375

I appreciate the feedback, thank you everyone! I have decided to postpone Cuba until February, for a variety of other reasons. Hopefully the country is making good progress with the restorations - I can post an update in February :)
