Hello,
planning a dance focused trip to Havana this summer with my teenage daughter. Looking for info and experiences around dance classes/ courses geared towards beginners with local dance instructors partnering in classes. And yes looking info to really dance and trying to avoid any possible misunderstandings around women/men/ dance. What is the scene like? What do I need to be prepared for and is this a good idea?

Not sure what you mean by misunderstandings between men, women and dance.Latin dancing reinforces many cultural stereotypes of masculine and feminine, can get pretty hot and heavy, men lead, women follow, hands wandering, legs entwined, LOL!!!!
That said Cuban men can be perfect gentlemen also and the women too.

And this is one Yuma's experience taking dance lessons in Havana,

I am asking about all kind of cuban dance: salsa, bachata, kizomba, rueda, rumba and son. Trying to politely ask if there is "hidden" women`s sex/escort tourism under name of dance classes. Since most dance instructors in classes and pairing in tutoring appear to be men. Trying to really avoid all that and absolutely if that is part of classes or around them, and not to take my teenage daughter in the mids of that. Also info about best places to see ballet in Havanna would be great.
As a man I cannot say with certainty if there's a hidden sex/escort tourism at the dance classes.I dont dance with men and the women have never propositioned me. I guess if you want those things, they are there. This should provide you with lots of information and sources http://www.lahabana.com/content/events-listings/
The links of the dance schools I posted in my previous post are all schools with many , many positive reviews from tourists.

One need not worry about anything hidden or subtle in that regard as almost everything is open and direct. That is an arena where anyone who is indirect will get no business as it all will be taken by those with a direct approach.

I don't think you have to be too concerned. The legitimate dance studios don't need any negative reviews. Lots of competition in that business, in Cuba.
#4....i don't know what to make of your comment that women have never propositioned you... Wink
