My brother and I have been traveling to Cuba for many years, and for the past 6 or 7, we've settled into Conchita's place in Cumanayagua. She has a 3 room government sanctioned hostal. One is located with outside stair access above her home and the other 2 (soon to be 3) are located in a former garage. These are the rooms where we stay. I have been trying to attach photos of my room but haven't figured out how to do so for this forum (if some one knows how, please let me know). I will be glad to answer any questions. For around $50/night, its a great place to stay, and by now we are family, so I can't imagine being anywhere else.
We find this location ideal for us. We fly into Santa Clara, rent a car, drive through Manicaragua to pick up my nephew, stopover in La Mosa to visit friends, and then head to Conchita's. The rooms are clean, she serves a hearty breakfast, and you're within 30 minute of some beautiful beaches, and hr from Cienfuegos and its great architecture of the old palicios.
