Firstly, Im a Kiwi flying into Cuba from Mexico City on Aeromexico. Can I buy a tourist card for Cuba at the Mexico (benito Juarez) Airport ? if so where abouts? otherwise how do I obtan a tourist card?
secondly, how do I go about finding a Casa Particular? what price range can you expect to pay for a twin room?
thirdly, can US dollars be exchanged for cuban money, and can I use US dollars in Cuba, will people accept them?

Take a few minutes to read this forum.

we leave from mexico city on mexicana tomorrow. we have been told by mexicana that we just need to buy our visas from them at the airport (for 150 pesos). hope it's true!!!

Get a guide book and take it with you and also spend a few hours reading old posts on this branch of TT. You have alot to learn fast.

Hiya Kiwi, I'll answer instead of just referring you back to the forum. Yep I got the Cuba tourist card back in 11th april, dead easy, i flew Mexicana, i went to the desk at B Juarez airport, was directed to the desk, for me inside mexicana air, where you pay 150 mex pesos, (or whatever the equivalent is in USD) showed the return flight, passport and thats about it, didnt need to provide photos or apply before hand, all done within 5 mins.
I DEFINITELY DONT recommend taking USD, the amount they charge you on commission, is something like 10-15%, crazy! not sure about exchaning AUD or Kiwi dollars, most people are taking Euro's with no problems. Mex pesos isnt such a great exchange rate.
Casa particulars as everyone says are in the guide book, be selective, generally paying around 25-35 CUC (Cuban Convertible Pesos). Have fun!!
