Here's my situation:
Booked flights from New Zealand to LA before 16 June 2017. Booked flights from LA to Havana, Cuba after 16 June 2017. Now the trump law change says:
"Provided that the traveler has already completed at least one travel-related transaction (such as
purchasing a flight or reserving accommodation) prior to the President’s announcement
on June 16, 2017, all additional travel-related transactions for that trip would also be
authorized, including if the trip occurs after OFAC issues new regulations..."
So surely I could argue that our flights to LA booked before 16 June count as that 'one travel-related transaction' and we could travel according to the old regulations. I have been in contact with 'Cuba travel services' who seem to think that since the flight to Cuba was only booked after that date then we would need to travel according to the new regulations.
Of course I am aware that the new regulations have not taken effect yet. But since we travel to Cuba on 29 Oct we might expect the new regulations to take effect by then. It was rumoured that something would happen September 16 but nothing as yet.
Just looking at booking accomodation now but everything seems so uncertain.
What do you think?
