So we canceled our trip to Cuba due to the damaging storm.
We are now thinking of re-booking for Havana, Cuba October 18-22
Can you please let us know the condition of Havana Cuba now?
The condition of Vinales for the tours in terms of destruction to tobacco farms?
Also if you think it will be somewhat restored by then in terms of smell and rotting, open restaurants?

Best,

Sam Shneyer

Restored? I doubt that you will find the areas in the US affected by the hurricane restored in that amount of time.I have visited and followed Cuba since 2001,I've never seen water chest high in the streets of Havana,I wouldn't count on it.

Thanks for the reply. I am more concerned about working restaurants and tourist area in Havana. Water recedes and general cleanup doesn't take that long. Also, Vinales was far off Irma path, so do you have any update on that?

Vinales was hardly affected as far as I understand.

The photos of Havana look very similar to me to the photos after Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Within a few weeks of that, most of the city was back to normal. (I was in Havana for Hurricane Wilma, living in Santa Fe, several blocks from the sea, and the water reached as far as my street).

You're right from what I can see,I never noticed before, but somehow this looks worse and the water seems like it's gone further inland.
