I know several casa owners in Trinidad who hate Airbnb, and at least two who've stopped doing business with them.

My nephew in California operates renting part of his house with AB&B. As far as I know he is getting paid.

I am guessing that in California, Airbnb don't have someone going round paying everyone in cash ?

Yes that's the point - only in Cuba is payment mainly being done by a guy(s) physically running around Cuba!

The shortest flight takes half a day door to door
Cuban resorts are God's Waiting Rooms
Any trip of less than a month is not worth getting out of bed for
Anybody relying on a single source of funds whilst travelling is an idiot
*Millions of Americans have visited Cuba already, but everyone arriving this week is under the illusion that he or she is the first one to discover Cuba and the last one to see it before it is no longer an independent country*

Again a tad older that "6 day old news" LOL.
Several of their complaints go back to beginning of January which is why by the time we arrived in early February it was already a common complaint.

That is the point. Guys driving or running around Cuba handing out cash to casa owners.
Sounds like Cuban banks(owned by the government) will not co-operate with Air B&B. Maybe the money bag guys have been arrested. This should not surprise anyone, especially a Cuban casa owner. The commies have been able to confiscate almost everything the Cuban people produce. Without the black market it would be 100%.
