Hi there,

we are with a group of 5 people, arriving in Cuba on July 13 th. Due to personal circumstances we have not booked buses yet. It looks like that all Viazul buses to Vinales of Trinidad are fully booked on July 14, 15, 16.
I was wondering if we book on arrival do we have a chance to travel by bus on any of those dates.
Or is it better to take a taxi to Vinales.
Next thing we 'll have to do is make bookings for casas particulares for 5 people, also quite challenging.

Hope you can help us.
thanks very much.
Michelle

With five people, you're better off taking a taxi to Vinales. Your casa host will almost certainly know a private taxi driver who has one of the larger older cars. Five plus driver is a bit of a tight squeeze, but it's not a very long trip--3 hours max. Just insist on seeing the car before you agree to take it, to make sure it's of appropriate size and in reasonably good condition.

Most casas have two bedrooms and many now have three, so unless each individual in your group of five needs a separate room, you should have no difficult. Even if you need five separate bedrooms, you can almost always find two casas within a few doors of each other. Perhaps pick one that sounds good from one of the many casa websites (or someone's recommendation), and when you contact that casa owner, ask them for contact info for a neighbor with a room or two that meets your requirements.

Your other option if you cannot get booked into Viazul and in addition to a taxi is to go to almost any hotel in Havana look for the travel agent's desk ,just about every hotel has one and you can book your round trip through them.

5 people plus luggage could be difficult. Yes, one of those old station wagons... Not many around..

Hope it works out.

The Conectando buses - there are details in the FAQ.

There are also seats in shared taxis - though that might require that the group split up.
