Good thing YanquiBoy could answer your question about AfroCuban culture, because I drew a complete blank on that one. As for relaxing on the beach, "best" all depends on what you're looking for, as in, do you want to stay in a big resort, a small beachside hotel, a private home, or a tent? Also, where will you be in Cuba geographically? East or west of Havana? Why don't you sort out your bike tour with WowCuba or whoever you sign on with, then let me know where the tour ends up, and I'll tell you where the best beach of whatever type you're looking for is located near there. Or you can ask Kristen MacQueen. Since WowCuba also does scuba dive tours, she certainly knows the beach scene, especially in the western half of the island. (Not sure how well she knows the east.)

That "AfroCuban culture thing has always baffled me when it came up on line as I have never seen such a thing. So I asked my wife / significant other who is Cuban and is a director in the Ministry of Culture and has a degree in Culture from the University of Holguin. She said it must be a term thought up by foreigners from segregated countries. Her analysis was "We are just all Cubans"

Independently verify anything important that a stranger tells you on the internet, even this advice.
