After my experience, your comment about your friend Funky and irenegia's comment about her experience sounds like they're all at it in Santiago - excuse the pun!! Very interesting about Funky obtaining a bank account, I've never even tried since I knew they could have them, obviously, but I didn't think I could, I'll give it a go next time I'm there as it will be for quite a long period of time again, thanks

If I wasn't so humble, I would be perfect.

I would have gone to the police right away. I keep even small stuff secured and for money if staying more than a night I seak out a hotel with security boxes and ask to rent one for my stay in the area.
I n the past in my early days I would have have my shampoo go missing from the bottle and stupid stuff like that so best to lock it all up.

patywolf: Your shampoo!!!! I never even think to check stuff like that, I've heard it all now and will certainly only be returning to Casas I know and trust or locking EVERYTHING away at all times if I go back. I couldn't wait to get back there before I went last time and was planning another 4 month trip there in October but my mind is seriously changing and I think I'll look at going somewhere else later this year now. Great quote by the way: Rather die on my feet than live on my knees!
