A good reminder of what not to do while visiting foreign countries , especially Cuba, LOL!!!

B.C. police officers arrested in Cuba could be forced to remain in Caribbean for months

Two Lower Mainland police officers detained while vacationing in Cuba could be forced to spend much longer than they planned on the Caribbean island as their case is investigated by authorities.

On its website, Global Affairs Canada warns travellers that Cuban police do not lay charges until an investigation is complete. “Canadians who have been arrested, even for a minor incident, should expect long delays to resolve their cases and may not be allowed to leave the country.”

Doubt if the wait for charges and trial count towards time served if you're found guilty.

There seems to be no problem with Cuban police being arrested while on vacation in Canada.

How many Cuban police vacation in Canada this time of year?

In Cuba, of course. It's the Cuban police that are detaining them. Canada has no jurisdiction in Cuba. Must have been more than just a casual accusation. Imo.

We'll see.

Maybe her parents. It's out there on a couple of different Canadian news websites. The girl is from Ontario.

Gres , they have to face an internal police review when they get back to Canada. The parents or the girl can press the case when these guy return.

In Cuba, the age of consent is 16. Correct?

Consent and sexual assault are two different things.

I'm just surprised that Cuba just didn't boot them all out of Cuba and let Canadian justice handle it. Really weird since no Cuban was involved.
