Also, if you are on a budget, factor in that when flying you will spend a minimum of 20 CUC in Havana getting to and from the airport and a minimum of 10 CUC in Santiago. (That assumes good haggling and Spanish language skills.) For return flights that's another 60 CUC to factor in. If you stay close to the Viazul stations in Havana and Santiago and you can walk to them and save on taxis.

Havana Terminal 1 is not too far from the maquina route if you are on a real budget !

.................. wanted to travel from Havana to Santiago by air but have been really put off by all the Air Cubana reviews, so would to hear of alternatives. ......................

Have you investigated flying Havana - Miami - Santiago using one of the US airlines? Fares may be low and flights are short and frequent. That route is not as illogical as many automatically assume.


Independently verify anything important that a stranger tells you on the internet, even this advice.
