For all that want a very good clean, inexpensive and reliable place in Centro Habana, just go to Casa Cary. The aptment was just renovated, so it looks excellent. It is very well located, near to Casa de la Musica, Chinatown and just 4 blocks from the sea.
The room they rent is spacious, clean and has AC (essential in Cuba because it is so hot!!!!). The aptment has a balcony with a nice sea view.
The price of the room is very good: 20.00 cuc but if you are student or your budget is tight, they may discount you to 15.00 cuc. Plus around the neighborhood, there are many places which sell cheap food for cuban pesos.
The family is very reliable, one of the members speaks english. They make you feel like at home. The owner of the house, Cary, will make you any phone calls you need for reservations and will help you in anything you need (something very important in Cuba!). Also, Cary can arrange cheaper Spanish and salsa lessons for you with some of her friends who are teachers.
