The plan is to do a bike ride starting in Belize City, then counterclockwise along the Hummingbird Highway into Guatemala, up to Tikal, and then back down and southeast to Puerto Barrios (ferry back to Punta Gorda, etc). There is a reference in a cycling book to a road between Rio Dulce (El Relleno) at the mouth of Lago Isabal, to Livingstone, on the coast, with a ferry connection to Puerto Barrios. But, here's the problem:The International Travel Map(1:470,000), doesn't show a road there…

Hi guys!

This is gonna sound like an ad...and I apologise, kind of... :) Its just that Ive spent a lot of time looking into doing another language course in Spain and Ive found what seems to be absolutely essential info for anyone whos thinking of doing this kind of thing in Spain or South America. All the schools you find on the net and on other forums are listed on a website called Estudia Espana (www.estudia-espana.com). The only thing is that if you book with these guys you pay less than if…

Anyone ever stay here? Any reviews? Yay or nay? Considering staying here for a couple nights with my gf. Apparentley they are affiliated with Costa Rica Backbackers Hostel and right across the street. I know the area is a good area, just wondering if anyone has any more info on it as I can't find any reviews online about it. Also does anyone have any advice regarding booking rooms online with services such as Powerhostels? The website for Casa Poesia has the option to confirm a room online with…

Hi- Can people who've been to Caye Caulker recently help me out? Is there a sand beach there? I've heard two very different things: some say there are no sand beaches there (just a slab of concrete) while others say there are white sand beaches to relax/read/lie out on. I'm confused! Thanks!

I am flying to Liberia and then renting a car and going on to Nosara for a few weeks - we already have booked a house there but we do need a place to stay near Liberia for the night we arrive as well as the night before we leave. There do not seem to be many hotel options. The BestWestern doesn't have good reviews at all and is the only one listed on any of the sites (expedia, travelocity, etc) Are there other places to stay near the airport? (we are a group of 6) Thanks in adcance for your local…

hi,
two of my best friends and I are planning a costa rica trip for spring break. We are all in graduate school, psychology, law, and international studies..We are desperately wanting a nice beach, a little nightlife preferably with salsa dancing, and fun activities..We are the lonely planet type of travellers, love the real culture of countries and not the false tourist stuff. This trip we definately want some creature comforts but nothing too expensive, we are all students afterall. Does…

Hi there...

I was wondering what you guys think about saving my digital photos to USB flash keys, rather than burning to CD's. I will have with me a USB card reader to download the photos, from there I just haven't decided what to do from there.

I already have a 1 GB USB key, and I could get a 4 GB one. That space combined with my memory cards (1 @ 512 Kb, 1 @ 1 GB) should give me all the space I need.

Any thoughts? Just thought they would be smaller & easier to carry, and less likely to be…

mountain biking

first time backpacker - quitting job, heading to costa rica. Looking to eat, travel and sleep cheap to stretch my bucks far.
Very interested in mtn biking. Would LOVE to find some work even - cleaning up the shop, not a certified bike mechanic but can do tune-ups initial builds, minor maintenance, help with tours, etc.

So where is the good biking? Not road biking, but off-road, technical xc stuff.

thanks.
