Hi, Need a quick bit of advice. I am currently in palenque, we arrived late Saturday afternoon after the banks were shut and we are travelling back to Guatemala on Monday, leaving early so will not get chance to go to the bank on Monday. LP and the immigration card tell us to pay the departure tax at a list of banks which is not going to be possible.

Can you let me know if anyone knows whether it is fine to pay the departure tax at the immigration office at the border. If so whether there are any…

Hi all,

We are planning to have our honeymoon in Belize at the end of this summer (more specifically, the last week of August).

My question is: Does anyone have any tips for a romantic (yet not outrageously priced) getaway for a honeymoon? Places to stay? We would like to be on a beach and have plenty of time for doing not much at all.
However, we would like the opportunity for some good snorkelling (maybe diving - I am certified, he is not); sea kayaking; eating at good restaurants (we're…

Guat to SCC

Has anyone used Maya Guate in Panajachel (Ave. Sanander) to book a shuttle from Pana to San Cristobal? Their website states a charge of 40. (usd). Are they reputable?

I have found a few Thorn Tree archive postings say the shuttle from Antigua to SCC can be dicey, so I'm not sure I want to take that one.

Hi, I'm wondering what kind of short-term work options are available in Costa Rica for young people without a university degree? And what kind of work visa would be needed?

Thanks in advance!

hey, i would love some advice from anyone who has recently been along the north coast of honduras and in the Mosquitia region. I´d like advice on current prices for accomodation and travel, i´m travelling in a couple and want to spend about $5-6 US a night for accomodation. also, can anyone suggest a lovely little beach by Tela? I´m planning on entering Nicaragua from Leimus so any advice on this would also be appreciated. Thanks, jasamine

Where to go...

Hi All,
I will be spending the first two weeks of August with my boyfriend at an artists colony in Cuidad Colon and want to travel for about a week after that.
I'm not sure where to go- a week is not a lot of time but I was also thinking i could take some day trips from Ciudad Colon.
I definitely want to go to the beach- am interested in Montezuma but not sure how we could get there...I also want to see the turtles somewhere...
I have been reading that the Pacific Coast may be a better choice. What…

I am wondering if anybody has ever gone to hike Chirripo without a reservation? I would make a reservation, however the mountain is totally booked until May! However, I have read of people who have shown up in San Gerardo de Rivas without a reservation and they have been able to do the hike as openings occur because some people do not show up..Does anybody have any advice or experience regarding this?

I will be in Panajachel March 16-24th, traveling alone 50 yr old male and would like to take some tours throughout the highlands to remote villages, hike a volcano and an overnight trip to Tikal. Anyone know of a reputable tour company in Pana that I can contact once I arrive?

Thanks
