After years of traveling and endless museums and churches, we've found that taking a local cooking class can be a more immediate way to get a look into a local culture. Unlike a display in a museum case, foods and recipes give a window into living culture.
We recently attended the Antigua Cooking School. It is located under the clock tower (in the same building as the bookstore and Adventure Travel.
This is a fairly new business. Wilma, the owner, is a vivacious middle-aged Guatemalan. She…

Hi,
While the Lonely Planet claims one can reach Gatun Lock taking public transportation, Moon guidebook says this is not possible.
While Moon urges travelers to avoid Colon at all costs, Lonely Planet says it is not that dangerous, as long as one treads carefully.

I looked around on the net, anything that seems useful would need ordering but I don't have enough time anymore. About at the airport ? I will spend the 1st night in…

Hi,
Great to be backpacking, but I have to work while I'm away and I would really like to know if any of the cheap hostels ($8-$15 max) in Panajachel provide free wi-fi in the price.
If anyone knows, you will make me a very happy bunny, as the info isn't in my LP shoestring guide.
Cheers
Linda
