Buenos,

I have traveled a good portion of Latin America, with exception of El Salvador & Nicaragua.

1) Any word of advice for solo travel (male/40's) in the country at this point. I will have 8 days and plan to travel most of the countries regions, especially Parque Nacional Los Volcanes and Ruta de las Flores (for a couple of days) and Carreteral Litoral. Other than San Salvador, any safety consideration if I was going to rent a vehicle on my own? Would you recommend a guide for hikes in…

Hello,
I’ll be doing a Workaway volunteer gig for a few months in Panama outside Valle de Anton. I want easy access to wi-fi and in Colombia I’d rented a small device called a ‘hot spot’. Anyone know where I could rent one, if
El Valle would have them or would need to get it From Panama City.

Thanks
Ecoej

Hi guys, I'm going to be flying from Mexico City to Colombia in early November (to start a South America adventure) but was thinking about checking out a beach destination in Central America for a week or so along the way. Mainly just to chill and party. I'm struggling to settle on one destination. Also haven't considered where is easy to fly to from Mexico City. Ideas are;

  • Bocas del Toro, Panama (alternatively go to Panama City and then San Blas Islands but I think there's no nightlife in…

Hi - I'm a 30 something solo female traveler. I'm headed to CR this December for a couple weeks. I'm considering two itineraries. One is to fly to SJ and then to PJ and base in PJ for the 3 day Corcovado NP hike. I'm planing to stay at Cabinas Jimenez. After the hike I'd like to just find a nice, chill beach that's not going to be full of tourists but also not too isolated. I was thinking of heading up to Uvita but there's no straight route and I really don't want the hassle of transferring…

Hello,
I'm trying to squeeze in Sumuc Champey (SC) to my trip as I've heard great things on it. After a bit of research it seems to be a little difficult to get to (and a little time consuming). That being said, if I can make it happen that would be great. It appears the best way would be to go from Flores to Rio Dulce then I've heard there is a backroad shuttle to SC from there. Anyone know if it's still running? How long is this trip?
Then if we are heading to Lake Atitlan I heard it can be…

Hi,
on my way through central america I plan to come to Honduras somewhen between mid-december and mid-january. As I would like to see the whale sharks could anyone tell me:
1. Is there generally a good chance to see them that time of the year and does it make a difference if I come in Dec. or Jan.
2. Which is the better place to go seeing them Roatan or Utila, and
3. Which of the two would you generally recommend for snorkeling
Thanks for any advice

Hi! We are heading to Guatemala in 3 weeks for the first time. We are staying in Antigua as our base, then will have mornings open for cultural / tourismo things and will spend the afternoons with children in an orphanage (of sorts). I don't know much about the region, so I'm wondering about food and water there.

1) I love trying new foods - can some of you share your favorites and least favorites? I'm very curious about your experiences.
2) Is the water "safe"? Is bottled water easily…

Hi there, I've gone through and read about 20 other posts about recommendations for itineraries, but just can't decide. We're a family of 3: (1) Me(female)-backpacked around Central America alone for 3 months, 10 years ago, trying to stay away from other tourists, love seeing monkeys in the wild, love nighttime rainforest adventures; (2)Him-likes to travel, but doesn't like to be uncomfortable, likes wildlife, but not insects, doesn't like to spend an excessive amount of time in a car, doesn't…

Hello travellers.

I know a month isn’t enough to travel Central America. A year isn’t even enough! Still it’s what I have. I’m looking for some feedback on my intinary.

Flying into Guatemala City then taking a bus to a Xela. Doing a three day hike from Xela to Lago Atitlan. Spending a few days in San Pedro then heading to Antigua for a few days. Next, taking a bus to Copan in Honduras. Hoping to see the Copan ruins and Makaw Mountain before heading to Suchitoto in El Salvador. After a few days…
