Xela -> San Cristobal (MEX) travel on SUNDAY with chicken buses - Is it possible?Country forums / Central America / Guatemala
Hi there, I wish to travel from Xela to San Cristobal in Mexico on this Sunday with chicken buses. Is this trip possible on this day of the week? Has anyone ever travelled it? Thanks a lot!
Definitely. | 1 | |
Is this trip possible on this day of the week? yes | 2
There is a bus from San Marcos to La Mesia. Less frequent, more scenic. | 3
You can travel on a chicken bus to the border. It isn't a fun trip as have done this in past . Now at the border you must switch to a Mexican normal bus. to get to SCSC. Mexico has no chicken buses. You can also get there by shuttle which is much easer and faster. Shuttle goes all the way to SCSC and drops you at your hotel there. | 4
Thank you everybody for all the information! Very helpful. How long do you think such a trip would take on a Sunday? Thank you all for your help | 5
leave early! What is wrong with the chicken bus it goes really fast. | 6
part of the problem is getting on, off, on etc. of shuttles to taxis to tuk tuks, bus to a station, wait for another, etc. anyway, 10 hours seems like a good estimate. 8 if you're lucky. | 7
I did the reverse trip on a Sunday, although starting from Comitan. There was essentially zero waiting at all the connection points--I just had enough time to buy a drink when in La Mesilla. You won't have any problems. I don't think it would take 10 hours. And I loved the chicken buses, it was definitely a fun trip using them. | 8
