Where to visit in belize?

We are after a place to visit for 5 nights in belize. Already been to belize city, ambergris caye, caye caulker, tobacco caye and Hopkins. Anything interesting in the south?

Drove to San Ignacio and stopped at the Belize Zoo. Nice but you should get there early when they are feeding the animals as they are snozing after being fed.
Cahal Pech is at the top of the hill in San Ignacio, smaller Mayan ruin that is partially cleaned up.
Stayed at Pelican Bay resort which was nice at Dangriga.
Stoped at Cocscomb Jaguar resort which was interesting, bought the book Jaguar and also have the Nat Geo dvd on it.
Drove the southern hwy but was not impressed with the hotels there at the south end of the country.
Easy place to drive as there is very little traffic.

Depends on what you call "interesting".

Placencia has the best beach in Belize. It attracts a lot of tourists & retirees.

Further south is Punta Gorda, a small town with not a lot to see or do, but if you're interested in rainforest and small villages, lots of that in the district. Also some small Mayan sites.

As noted, Placencia would be the obvious place, especially if you like restaurants and bars and decent beaches.

Punta Gorda in the far south and Sarteneja in the far northeast are probably my two favorite places in Belize, but there's not that much to do or see in these areas, which is why I like them (much more around PG than Sarteneja). Both are inexpensive for most lodging and food but expensive for tours, especially Toledo.

Guatemala, which is farther south but not in Belize, is a quick hop over the water from Punta Gorda. I'm fond of the water taxi to Livingston and the river trip up to Rio Dulce.

We stayed near Punta Gorda and in Placencia last summer - really enjoyed both. There are loads of photos plus blog and travelogue links below.
