Country forums / Central America

Some one please Help us.

We will be travelling through out Central America in May and June.. We know the weather will be hot and and wet throughout but would anyone know where the driest places are, the hottest places and the wettest places will be in the first two weeks of June. as I understand it, some places remain quite dry and hoy , but where I dont know.

can some one please help???

Many thanks

Not totally. The highland areas of Guatemala and the Central Valley of Costa Rica will be pleasant. Coastal and lowland areas...yeh hot. But this is still early enough that rain won't be an obstacle. I'd go ahead and plan your trip. Weather will be a worst an inconvenience... not a deal breaker. Plan activities early in the day. Quite often when it does rain it does so in the mid to late afternoon and evening.

We've traveled 5 times during the summer months to Central America (Guatemala, Belize, Honduras) and I'm heading back to Guatemala this August. We find summer to be an excellent time to visit. Sometimes June is still pretty dry - no real way to predict. In 2003 when we were in Belize the rains didn't start till right before we arrived in mid July and during our 4 weeks there fell almost exclusively at night. In June in western Honduras in 2005 it rained HARD most evenings and through the night, rarely during the day, and we hardly saw rain in July and early August in La Ceiba and on Utila and Roatan last summer. I think the rains general hit that area in the fall instead of the summer. As Bob says, just go for it! We've never had the weather put a damper on our trips, though we've watched the progress of a few hurricanes over the years.

Its a great time to visit, overall, its hot and sunny, elevated areas will get rain late afternoon, a cool respite...
