Utila in December

Country forums / Central America / Honduras

My boyfriend and I are planning on visiting Utila in mid december and were thinking about getting our diving certficate while we're there. Our itinerary is not set in stone as we realise we will have to be flexible with our plans so we don't know exactly when we would be arriving and are reluctant to book in advance. We realise that it will be busier everywhere leading up until christmas but what are the chances of arriving on Utila and being able to book accommodation when we get there?

Thanks

The majority of the dive centers offer free lodging with a dive course, so I would call ahead and make some arrangements, especially the week prior to Xmas.

They are all on the main road in center of town for most part, as well as the majority of the lodging too, maybe 20 minutes to walk from one end to the other.

I recently communicated with Rob of Alton's (diveinutila.com) which is THE place to do it. He said, if you reserve, you can start diving classes on that day, regardless of others. Realizing you cant at this point exactly predict that day, as the time draws nigh you might be able to, and then contact him to see if he can get you in on short notice. Tell him Eddy sent you.
