I'm travelling from Guatemala to Panama in June through all 7 countries and am wondering if the pre-paid data SIM cards are universally useable in every country, like in Europe. Anyone knows?

No. Will need to buy in each country.

Easier to just use the free wifi in lodging and cafes etc...

Or check your carrier roaming charges, some can be as little $5 day, and just turn on phone when you need it.

Hi there, Not sure if you can get hold of an international sim within Panama or Guatamala, but before we left the UK we got a TRUEPHONE international sim which includes data and calls and texts across 100 countries including those you mentioned. You can get an intro tariff or a high tariff with this.

I hope this was of some use?

Ps; i wrote to you Private message about crossing from macapa to french guiana by land and the issue of rain. can you assist me?
