Surf Cast fishing in Panama

Any suggestions for surf cast fishing locations in Panama for the last three weeks in February? I will carry a 9 ft surf rod and basic tackle. I could hire a panga or two if necessary. Any thoughts?

Does anybody know if there are any shops selling fishing tackle in Panama city?

You can do surf cast fishing in parts of the Azuero peninsula. They have an annual tournament in El Ciruelo, near Pedasi.

Trolling is more common. You can rent a panga for $50 and you pay your own gas. Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, Bonito, etc. This time of year there are a ton of tuna near the Frailes Islands (more like big rocks). Last week I caught 8 in one morning. You'll have to take the boat from El Ciruelo.

The best place in Panama City to buy Rapala's etc is Abernathy. They have a big store across from the Riba Smith on Transismica.
