Placencia Alternative?

Whoops, I hit enter too soon...

Anyway, in light of recent bad reviews of Placencia, as well as the fact that it might be out of my budget, esp for snorkelling tours which is what I wanted to do (but will do from the Bay Islands instead) I might be skipping Placencia.

So that would leave me with a little extra time en route from Tikal - San Ignacio - to Honduras.

Would Livingston (Guatemala) or Omoa (Honduras) maybe be somewhere I would rather spend those couple of days? Any personal experience would be great. Just looking for somewhere cheap, friendly, to spend a couple of days in.

Omoa would get my vote. Livingston...no thanks...but thats just my opinion.
